  • Family nap time.

Newbaby decided to go on  a bit of a binge today.  From 10:30 to 3:30 he ate somewhere on the order of 5 times, each feeding at least a half hour long.  The last 3 happened between 1:30 and 3:30, and I'm talking total time, that's not when they began.  Essentially he spent 15 minutes on the right, 15 on the left, 15 digesting, and then repeated the process twice more.  Newmommy was dreading the idea that he would want to eat again at 3:45, but instead it became nap time.

He still hates his bassinet.  He'll spend about a half hour in there after we get him to sleep, but as soon as he wakes up, he wants out.  His favorite thing these days seems to be tummy-to-tummy time, laying on either Newmommy or me.  Unfortunately, he's also figured out a rudimentary form of crawling that allows him to push himself along my body until he falls over my shoulder and goes face first in to the pillow.  He hasn't quite figured out how to go "up hill," so Newmommy doesn't experience the same difficulties.  Thus, when it's time for him to go to sleep, she is often the one lying in bed with him on her belly.  She claims to be waiting for him to fall asleep, but more often than not she passes out long before he does.  Yesterday, this happened and he managed to roll off her belly down to her side, and they spent a while like that:

It makes for a cute picture, but I get pretty worried when he's sleeping next to one of us.  Before he came along, we both had a habit of rolling over, sometimes on to each other, in the middle of the night, and I'd rather not have that happen to him.

Today, I was so tired from walking around with him until 3 AM last night so Newmommy could get some sleep that the three of us lay down for about 2 hours.  He lay on her chest, and I snuggled up against them, sort of acting as a barrier so he wouldn't get any ideas.  It was really nice to all be together without anything going on. We'll have to do that more often.
